According to Lieutenant Colonel Donia Mohamed Najib, the National Gendarmerie will be severe with those who perpetrate crimes against decency in beaches during the upcoming summer holidays.
In this regard, 70,000 gendarmes have been mobilised in 14 coastal wilayas (provinces).
The so-called “Dolphin Plan” came into force in 2001, said Colonel Ayoub abderrahmane, chief of communication and public relations department in the National Gendarmerie command.
It is an annual plan implemented from June 1 to September 15 including a set of security measures to insure the security of holiday makers in beaches and summer camps as well as people in the streets and entertainment parks, he added.
According to the same sources, 14 coastal wilayas are involved in the dolphin Plan: Tipaza, Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou (northern Algeria), Chlef, Tlemcen, Mostaghanem, Oran, Ain Timouchent (western Algeria) and Bejaia, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, Taref (eastern Algeria).
